Next up is my v short intro of e Advertising & Marketing committee(A&M) of ENS

drumroll please....

A&M is in charge of advertising & marketing as its name suggests. The advertising side of A&M mainly applies to promoting ENS to the student population of NUS while the marketing side of A&M looks at sourcing for sponsorships for ENS to support the various activities ENS conducts throughout the year. Listed below are the various activities A&M busies itself with throughout the year.

  1. Sourcing of Sponsorships

Cold calling of companies was done before letters of request for sponsorship were sent out to different firms. The range of companies called up includes firms in telecommunications, health and beauty, F & B, banking, retailing and insurance sectors.

Hence this job is strongly recommended for people who love to cook telephone porridge(aka talk on the phone).

Why you should take up the challenge:You will get to know people from all sectors of economy in Singapore and you get to talk alot on the phone.

Plus, you will learn how to bargain for bargains and you might meet up with someone who's pretty or handsome when you meet up with your sponsors(too bad i wasn't so lucky...)

I think it is appropriate here for me to just thank and acknowledge our generous sponsors for their kind sponsorships....

a) Magazines Express Pte Ltd

Kindly sponsored 100 past-dated copies of Newsweek and 100 past-dated copies of Forbes.

b) MobileOne Ltd

Kindly sponsored 100 pieces of plastic carriers.

c) Yeo’s

Kindly sponsored 600 cans of Sparkling H-TWO-O Apple Isotonic Drink, 60 bottles of 1.5L Bubble Green Tea + Apple Justea and 60 bottles of 1.5L Bubble Green Tea +Apple Justea.

d) Public Utilities Board

Kindly sponsored 72 bottles of Newater.

e) Spectacle Hut

Kindly sponsored 100 pieces of $30 vouchers.

2. Packing of goodie bags

After securing the numerous products from different companies, it is time to put the products to good use(unfortunately, not for my own private consumption...) by packing them into goodie bags to be distributed out for various events organised by ENS.

Why you should take up the challenge:This is actually quite a fun activity despite the fact that it doesn't sound fun... and this is a good activity for people who like to pack things!

3.Annual Bazaar

Basically all committees of ENS take part in the annual bazaar by getting products from vendors and selling the products in the bazaar. A & M invited 2 vendors down for the bazaar last semester:

a) Yi Sheng Pte Ltd which specialized in the sale of accessories such as earrings and necklaces

b) Concept Shoppe which is involved in selling movies memorabilia.

The booth selling accessories enjoyed rather brisk business due to very reasonably-priced(aka cheap) items and the booth selling movies memorabilia attracted strong crowds cos "exotic" things like pendants and One Ring from LOTR are sold....

4.Matriculation Fair

ENS set up a booth for Matriculation Fair 2005 on 25th July 2005 in MPSH. Pamphlets with information of upcoming ENS activities were given out on the day itself to promote awareness of ENS and increase publicity of upcoming events among freshmen. Boards carrying photos of various ENS activities were also done up and displayed at our booth during the fair itself.

Why you should take up the challenge:You get to talk to many people due to the large number of freshmen who throng MPSH for matriculation. So this is for people who like toexpress their vocal talents(in e form of talking...for singing-wise,join project superstar instead..sorry)

5.
Decoration of ENS notice board

The ENS notice board was revamped and given an entirely new look. Photos from past events as well as information on Camp Infinite Horizon were put up to inform the general population of our activities.

Why you should take up the challenge:The best platform for you to showcase your artistic capablilites and let your creativity run absolutely wild. And you have the entire Arts Faculty population as your audience.

Sidenote:I do hope that the next committee will do a better job in improving the aesthetic aspect of the board than the current committee...hehe...

If you wish to find out more about A&M activities, drop by our welcome tea tomorrow...see you there...
